Where to start? Last night I had the pleasure of being at Venue Cymru to see Jersey Boys. For those of you who do not know it is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons , a story of four ordinary young men who became an extraordinary pop group. The show takes us from their humble beginnings in New Jersey. Act One of this rip roaring show takes us through the early years of the group right up to the time they changed their name to the Four Seasons. Particular highlights for me were Frankie, Mary Delgado (Frankie`s wife) and the Four Seasons singing My Eyes Adored You, Dawn, Go Away and Sherry.
Act Two kicked off with Big Man in Town and set the tone for an hour and more of sheer excitement that had the large audience begging for more. Bye Bye Baby and Can`t Take my Eyes Off You plus other hits led us through, sadly, to the finale. By this time the crowd were on their feet dancing away to Rag Doll and Who Loves You?
The singing was absolutely fabulous and all the main singers/actors were first class. Matt Corner as Frankie displayed a tremendous range of voice control – it could have been Frankie himself on stage. Ste Clough was a revelation as Bob Gaudio and the whole cast pulled it off to perfection especially the characters of Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi.
The orchestra were fabulous and the sound, lighting and creativity of the whole show provided everyone with an evening you didn`t want to end.
If you don`t sleep well I would advise you go to the matinee performance as believe me when you get home you are still on a high as the music and story race around your head for hours!
Tickets are selling well so if you want to go to Venue Cymru and see Jersey Boys then book now. Look at their website venuecymru.co.uk or ring the box office on 01492 872000.
Oh What a Night!!!!
