In the fifties Tommy Steele was the British rock and roll hero who dominated the early teen charts. Popular with the youth of the nation he became an allround entertainer and turned his attention to a family audience with which he had an impressive career.      His record output therefore changed targeting an all round audience which eventually began the demise of his recording career with the introduction of the Beatles and the Liverpool sound.
