Mae arddull Alistair wedi cael ei ddisgrifio fel ‘Canu Gwlad Newydd’, ond mae’r casgliad o ganeuon sydd ar yr albwm yn amrywiol eu naws a’u cynnwys – o faledi pwerus i felodïau hudolus ac alawon cyflym sy’n gwneud i’r traed symud i’r bît! Gyda cherddorion o’r radd flaenaf fel band cefndir, caneuon sy’n cyffwrdd yr enaid, geiriau a barddoniaeth cyffrous a llais Alistair yn symud yn naturiol o un arddull i’r llall, dylai’r CD hwn blesio rhychwant eang o wrandawyr.
Ganwyd Alistair ym Mangor, ac mae wedi byw yn Llanfairfechan erioed gan fynychu Ysgol Aberconwy ble y daeth yn gitarydd a phianydd amlwg. Mynychodd Goleg Llandrillo gan ennill tystysgrif HND yn y Cyfryngau Creadigol a Rhyngweithiol a ddyfarnwyd gan Brifysgol Morgannwg.
Er mai 24 yn unig yw Alistair, mae’r diwydiant cerddoriaeth yn gyfarwydd iawn iddo, ac mae wedi bod yn perfformio ei sioe unigol ers dros wyth mlynedd mewn tafarndai, gwestai a chlybiau o gwmpas Gogledd Cymru. Mae ganddo’r gallu a’r weledigaeth i fod yn un o brif gantorion canu gwlad y dyfodol.
Dyma ddarn o adroddiad gan y Weekly news am yr albwm.
Earlier this year Alistair’s profile received a boost when he was picked to take part in the S4C show Cân I Gymru (Song For Wales) with his self penned song Crwysau Gwyn (White Crosses) which tells the tale of a Welsh soldier, and based on the Trawsfynydd poet Hedd Wyn who died during the First World War.
Alistair, 24, originally from Llanfairfechan, has teamed up with the band and production team behind his 2006 debut release of Neith Digon Ddim Digoni to write and record a collection of new tracks which feature on Croeso Nôl (Welcome Back).
“I am excited about the release of this album,” he said. “It has been a lot of hard work but I have been lucky enough to work with some of Wales’s top musicians and writers on this project, I hope this is evident in the final result.”
The album was recorded at Rockcliffe Studios in Llandudno and produced by Alistair’s long term co-writer Simon Gardner.
Since the release of Neith Digon Ddim Digoni, Alistair has been very busy performing across Wales, whilst also finding time to contribute to many successful Welsh albums including Iona ac Andy, Geraint Roberts and top selling DJ SG album Clwb Cymru, on which he sang lead vocals.
As well as Crwysau Gwyn, another one of the tracks on the new album is a duet recorded with Anglesey singer Laura Sutton who recently achieved national acclaim with her performance as Celine Dion on ITV’s Stars in Their Eyes, reaching the live final.
“The album is a mixture of ballads and upbeat pop songs. I have really enjoyed writing this album and many of the songs and lyrics are very personal to me. Hopefully, people will not only enjoy the melodies and musicianship but also relate to the lyrics and experiences in the songs,” added Alistair.
Felly cofiwch wrando ar Tudno FM drwyr wythnos i glywed caneuon oddi ar yr Albwm!
