Hi guys, American Dave here with the lowdown on this week's show, so, we were off to a bit of a jerky start until we realised and accepted that Linda was in charge, after that everything calmed down to our usual fare of texts, phone calls, facebooks and emails requesting the songs of yesteryear er, gone by forever in a musical erm, can you tell I'm just trying to pad it out to a line or four until I can tell you that next week's guests will be, Linda Blanchard and Denise Smith, Hoorah, I'll leave you with it then, I'm outa here, see you.

Hi guys, American Dave here with the lowdown on this week's show, or what there was of it after the dreaded internet took the rest of the evening off, aaaaahhh well, what have I  got to tell you, oh yes,  the competition, well, for the occasion I managed to wheel in a councillor to do the draw, it was Ms Doreen Websall keeping it all above board, So then the meal at Home Cooking courtesy of Paul Blanchard was won by  Sandra & Karen from Maesdu Golf Club, the meal at Paysanne courtesy of Tom Buckley was won by  Linda Walters another meal won by the Walters jammy beggers, and the £100 worth of chemical scaffolding courtesy of the good folks at Debenhams was carried off by Jean Jones and I must say, she could probably benefit from it, ha ha only joking folks honest, so just time to say then, next week we'll be having that well known ongoing advertisement for luuuurve, Kevin and Linda Walters, just a note to let everyone know that thursday's Love Train is having a change of time slot, instead of being from 10-12 we are now running from 8-10 just like the Payne's reunion do your ears a favour and join me Dave Hanson, John Ivor and Harry Pritchard for two hours of not quite your ordinary love songs, see you.

Hi guys, American Dave here with the lowdown on last week's show and what a show it was, in the studio as promised we had guests Haf Rowlands and Connie Jones/Chamberlain and phoning in from a far flung land (London) we had Marcia Lazar who coincidentally had found Haf on Facebook, was told about the show, and was delighted when we phoned up for a chat, Marcia said her heart was in Llandudno but she hadn't been able to get here since 1986 approx but would try to make it for the November knees-up in the Grand, just goes to show you!. In the studio Connie the chanteuse warbled her way through that lovely old hymn Stand by me while Haf was up to her old tricks, getting us all to search for her specs and getting more and more distressed until Connie pointed out she was actually wearing the damn things, what is she like?. Don't forget about the competition with the following prizes, Dinner for two at the Home Cooking donated by Paul Blanchard and £100 worth of beautifying chemicals from the good folks at Debenhams and the question is simply this, what is the name of the blind singer/songwriter currently recording at Motown?, is it A: (any old name you can think of in this box) or B: >STEVIE WONDER< now come on it's not hard is it?, get your name into us any way you can, email me at dave.hanson@tudnofm.co.uk phone us on the night  on 01492 870249 or text the answer to 60300 (start your text with the word tudno) and then your answer, all winning names will go into a hat for drawing at a later date so get those names in, Gary Carr may or may not be back next week to return the show to an even keel and the Internet streaming problems seem to have been cracked, a download of this week's show along with quite a few others can be found at:

(you might have to select this link, copy it and then paste it into your browser's address box, hit enter and hopefully you'll be taken to the site.)

and I'll see you.

Hi all, it's American Dave here with the lowdown on lastweek's/nextweek's show. So, once again Gary has cried off doing his bit for the community entertainment and I was left to my own devices to figure out how to present you with a bit of fun and frivolity, luckily I was able to call on my old mates to come in and help me out of a sticky situation but would you believe it? he's only gone and done it again next week but I've had a bit of  advance warning and I think I can give you a good night's show for your money, we're going to have a couple of guests in this time , I'm going to be joined by Connie Chamberlain, who we may or may not be able to coax into a song, as well as Conny, Haf Rowlands will also be in to lend an air of authority to the proceedings and to prevent me getting out of hand ha ha, so there you go, what more can I say other than miss it and you'll miss out altogether, don't forget to keep getting those answers in for the competitions and until then I'll say, See you.

American Dave

And now the end is near and so on and so forth and with many apologies to Paul Anka's lyrics we reach the end of another year of Paynes Reunions and we hope you will join us next year for another round of barely contained lunacy, guests and music, Oh always the music, we'd like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year from all of us at the The Paynes Reunion Show, Goodnight from American Dave and Garry Carr.

Dave Hanson

Hi all, American Dave here with some upcoming news: first off our guest this week will be our old friend Phil Williams from the local paper, Phil has been a great help to the show/station in the past with items like the brilliant write up he did when we 'found' Dick Collins after all that time.

Streaming: please bear with us as we struggle with technical difficulties with the streaming of the show, we've got it in hand and it only remains to test the system to find the  zzzzzzzzzz................. and so on, nearly fell asleep then, anyway, it's nearly done, trust me?.

Don't forget the competition, it's not difficult and you only need to answer one, count them, one question correctly to get your name into the hat for the big draw and a chance to win the ipod, kindly donated by our longlost soul buddy, Dick Collins and you know, Dick just keeps on giving, he's just told me that if anyone does, by some chance get all twelve questions right, they will win a special prize, again donated by Dick, it could be a piece of Concorde, an air to air missile or even some fuel pipes Dick had left over from a nuclear power station he was working on but I'm sure it will be worth having anyway, watch this space for further details

And the questions are:

 1. Where did Edwin Starr play earlier in the evening before his 9.30 pm performance at Paynes?
2. What is missing from the following?
My mother told me If I was goodie
That she would buy me A ****** *****
3. Which famous blues and soul magazine did Dave Godin write for?
4. Which Bandwagon Star insisted on having a heater and a bottle of whisky in the changing room otherwise he would not appear?
5. What was the colour of the shirt that Dick was wearing at the Edwin Starr evening?
6. What was the first Northern Soul record that Dick played at the Discotheque.
7. What word is missing from the following?
Paynes Cafe Royal - North Wales Top Soul *********
8. What was the colour of the van that Dick used to drive?
9. Which of the following record titles did Dick play, 'Tell Her' or 'Tell Him'?
10. Name the only group we booked that went on to win Opportunity Knocks?
11. Which female artist, not related to Charlie Payne, was the first lady to have a hit that went straight to number 1 in the charts before it was actually released ?
12. Who sang 'Stickball' ( and who still has a copy?)

Now don't panic, do your research and answer the questions correctly to be entered into the hat to be drawn on 21 November at the Payne's Reunion night at the Grand Hotel

answers can be sent to me at dave.hanson@tudnofm.co.uk or Dick Collins direct at dick.collinson@live.co.uk also texts sent to the show on the night at 60300 the word tudno, your answer and then your details or the usual telephone number 01492 870259 again, on the night, and Good Luck to all you'll need it! (Nah, not really)

See you.

Hi, American Dave here with the lowdown on this week's show and as usual, it was a hideous shambles from the start with my worst nightmare coming true by my leaving the correct case of CDs at home and waltzing in with the wrong one however we soon get over this hiccough and it's off we go after Gary sorts out the microphones, well, we've got some great news this week but that can wait till later, don't forget we are on Facebook as paynes reunion, my webmail is up and running so you can email me on dave.hanson@TudnoFM.co.uk with your requests and dedications, texts can be sent to 60300 put the word tudno then a space and then your message, can you please let us know about any problems if you listen to the live stream, we are trying our best to get it sorted and this week we are having a new service provider giving us the capability to stream to 1000 people at a time for only £20.00 per month we'd really like to get a sponsor to cover it but until then, I will pay it out of my own pocket, I know, it's extraordinary but it's true, that shows just how much I think of you listeners buuuuuuuuuuuuut if you would like to contribute to the running of this charitable organisation you can now click on the Paypal logo that we will be having on our website's homepage, Gary was humbled by my announcement but not to the point of putting his own hand in his pocket but that's our Gaz for you. Now then on to our Earth shattering announcement, drum roll da da da da da da daaaaaa ladies and gentlemen joining the DJ roster for November's Payne's Reunion, free gratis and for nothing will be..... None other than the legend that is... and after a search lasting fourteen years...... we are proud to present..... Mr Dick Collinson, yay, whoop whoop, yahoo, (Wow I hope he's worth the build up), well, we got some info out of young Dick (or should that be old, round and bald as a badger ha ha) including some memories I'd hoped would be left dead and buried such as me making off with Dick's car every time I found he'd left the keys in it again and the story of us all going down to Abersoch for a weekend and another weekend in Newquay wow, then he was reminding us of the legendary photo showing Dick's legs in a football strip with all of us in the goal-mouth as Payne's Panthers... now gentle listener, I'm drawing a discrete veil over those proceedings so if you didn't hear it Wednesday then you've missed out. Now for the competition, once again the good folks at Debenhams have come up with the goods by donating cosmetics to the value of £100.00 while the kind people at Home Cooking have donated a meal for two and the question is: who was the owner of Payne's Cafe Royal was it: Gary Payne Carr, Charlie Payne or Dave Payne Hanson get the correct answer in to us by any of the available methods texts, email, facebook or telephone 01492 870249; on the night and we will put all the correct answers in to a hat for the final draw, back now to our special guest who was able to regale us with tales and stories about the glory days of Payne's and behind the scenes info on the running of a successful disco. Dick also promised to let us have copies of different contracts from the time, there's one for example showing an Edwin Starr appearance costing £250.00 amazing, over time we'll be uploading these contracts and rare photos to our web site so you can all have a look at them, that's all for now then and don't forget about the competition, get your correct answers in so they can go in the hat and we'll be back next week for the next installment, see you, American Dave.

Whoa, hang on a minute, Stop Press, I've got a special announcement from the "management" (heretofor to be known as the party of the first part and so on and so forth) a 12 question special in the run up to the Paynes Reunion night at the Grand hotel, only four weeks left so this has got to be quick, get your thinking heads on Wurzels and answer these questions, they're set at three at a time every week for four weeks, got it?, good, here are the questions for the 28-10-09 Paynes reunion show:

Wednesday Oct 28th

1. Where did Edwin Starr play earlier in the evening before his 9.30pm performance at Paynes?

2. What is missing from the following?

My mother told me
If I was goodie
That she would buy me
A ****** *****

 3. Which famous blues and soul magazine did Dave Godin write for?

Now don't panic, do your research and answer the questions correctly to be entered into the hat to be drawn on 21 November at the Payne's Reunion night at the Grand Hotel

answers can be sent to me at dave.hanson@tudnofm.co.uk or Dick Collins direct at dick.collinson@live.co.uk also texts sent to the show on the night at 60300 the word tudno, your answer and then your details or the usual telephone number 01492 870259 again, on the night, and Good Luck to all you'll need it! Three Lucky Winners

Posted by: Dave Hanson in MyBlog

Dave Hanson
Hi guys, American Dave here with the lowdown on this weeks show, well it was certainly a great night all round for our lucky winners, first of all there was Margaret Herbie and Alwena Evans (past Mayor Billy Evans' wife) who won 12 bottles of wine, 6 bottles each and all courtesy of Paul Blanchard at Home Cooking, then, Denise Smith won the £100 worth of cosmetics, not that she needs it of course ha ha. So we had started on a high note, could things get any better?, you bet, Gary Carr managed to lock himself in the lavatory like some certain old ladies of our acquaintance, usually, Gary is quite cool, calm and collected but he certainly failed to maintain control that night, he was actually so close to nearly smashing the door down, you could hear the banging on air, so I let him out after half an hour, we had so many more requests in that half hour from people saying it was the best part of the show and was there any chance of him going back in!, so back to reality, I'm afraid Gary Carr goes missing again for the next show so I'll have John Ivor with me instead, that's fine by me, I believe Gary's having a golf lesson he does need it but he will never improve just like Everton.

New Competition include a litre bottle of spirits of your choice but please be reasonable, Donated by our friend Paul Blanchard's Home Cooking and four goody bags, each worth £100.00 divided as three for ladies and one for men and again from the good folk at Debenhams, now pay attention to this because it's easy as pie so there is no excuse for not joining in, the question is: who sang the lovely old hymn Heaven must have sent you?, was it, A, The Spice Girls B, THE ELGINS or was it C, The Pussycat Dolls, bit of a hint there if you look closely so send your answers to me by e-mail at dave.hanson@tudnofm.co.uk you can text me on the Wednesday night show by dialing 60300, type the word tudno, a space and then your answer (with your name and phone number) or lastly you can phone in on the night on 01492870249.
If you are suffering from streaming drop-outs or other on-line related problems please let us know, preferably by e-mail and we can work out why it's going wrong, that's it for now, see you

Hi, American Dave here with the lowdown on this week's show, well, for myself I was down on work business in Birmingham, not Cardiff as Gary would have it, so I was unable to contribute to the show but I gave it a good listening to, at least until nine o'clock anyway because the stream was so awful, it was dropping in and out like I don't know what and when I couldn't stand anymore, I had to turn it off, to be fair, Gary and John gave The Motown Special their best shot but people who could only get the stream must have been hopping. Next week we're going to be having the draw for the current competition, two seperate sets of 6 bottles of wine courtesy of Home Cooking and the £100.00 cosmetic bonanza from the good folks at Debenhams, come on then there's still time to get your answer into the hat to the question: Who was the designer of Llandudno?, not that difficult but requiring a bit of research from the net or just ring up Mostyn Estates, they'll put you straight, prob'ly, competition for August, four sets of goody bags from the good folks at Debenhams, three bags for the girls and one for the guys and the question is going to be a ridiculously simple TVAM style question so loads more can win, good job it's not costing a pound a go, right then I'll see you.

Stop Press: news just in, I can now reveal another quick competition we'll be starting Wednesday night on the Paynes Reunion show and finishing on Thursday night on the Lovetrain show, the prize is a bottle of whisky, donated by your friend and mine, the recent Mayor, Councillor Billy Evans, the question is in line with the Post Office's 50 years of postcode celebrations and is simply this, Where was the first area to get post codes, simple really, see you.

American Dave.
